Hi all.
I was thinking the other day, about the new additions to TabBed, especially the font and backgraound changing, and i’m decided to scrap that… to replace it with dynamic font and background changing. Essentially, all these fonts and especially backgrounds take up memory, memory that I will most likely need for MP3 support and other new features, so the next step will be to have all the bacckgrounds and fonts loading off SD card, this of course means that users will be able to create thier own backgrounds and add thier own fonts. If this goes well I may also change the buttons and GUI elements to load off the SD card also, this shouldn’t slow down tabbed (not that it needs to run 60fps anyway) but should give me that extra bit of memory. Of course this will leave TaBbed open to users messing around with buttons and interfaces… but isn’t that a good thing?I think it is, we could even see a section of the site dedicated to user GUI submissions. But that’s all pipe dreams at the moment, I’ll start simple and work my way up as normal.
I’ve also been playing with the edit screen a bit more and have got it scrolling, which is something I should have put in for v0.15, but that whole bit is coming on nicely as I think people would like to be able to edit/create tabs.
Other than that I’ve made a big, big change to TabBed, it’s something that you won’t ever notice, but I sure will… I’m compiling it with Windows Vista. Ok, a lot of people are probably spitting on the floor right now in disgust, but I paid for Vista so I may as well use it, I’ve disabled UAC and it works really well.
Anyway, I’m off on a long weekend to the Capital so I’ll see you guys later (assuming I make it back alive)
