The demise of Chorded?

First of all, I’m very glad as to the response so far in this project, it’s been great. It’s a tremendous feling when you are producing something that people want and are looking forward to. It’s also great, from the standpoint of a user, that you can voice suggestions, make comments and really shape the software that you would like to see, I guess that is what is so great about the home brew scene, and again, that’s one of the great things about this software. Everyone may have a different vision of what they want it to do, and there is no reason that each persons vision can’t be realised.

Because of this potential I will not be working on “Chorded” anymore. The small project that came around because of a “wouldn’t it be cool?” thread in a public forum has just exploded in my head, and I want it to grasp everyone who uses it too.

This project is no longer being created by me, Wizlon, this project is being created by us, all of us, the scene. So shout out your ideas, lets get them prioritised and lets create a guitar application for the DS, lets make it good, lets make it ours.

Chorded, the DS application to find guitar chords, is dead… in it’s place rises a new application, named after an ill fated project created in Java for the PC, welcome… TaBbed.

Tabbed will be a guitar tab viewer and writer, chord finder, metronome, tuner (hopefully) and maybe even a mp3 player.

Features will include, loading and saving tabs from flash card, displaying tabs correctly, automatic scrolling, chord name lookups,  favorite and recent items lists, variable metronome plus other fun features that will come about in time.

As I mentioned before, get involved, make suggestions. Don’t like the UI? tell me. Fancy a new feature? drop me a line. I have removed the necessity for users to be signed up to make comments, so to make it easier for everyone to have a say, please don’t abuse it.

The first version of Tabbed should be coming in the next week or so, but don’t hold your breath ok?

Right on. This is why i love the scene. Someone can post an idea and the community is so big and supportive that a project like this is born. Not to mention I posted that request not that long ago and somethings hs grown from that in no time. Keep it up and im looking forward to the first rendition of this homebrew.

wow! this will be soooo cool. tabber, chord book, mp3 player!
I like the GUI but a more rocker/electric guitar looking GUI would be cool.

  4. Wizlon Says:

Not quite, but it will help you read tab music.

But why not extend tabbed into a guitar tutorial program? Most of the tools will be in place! Keep your eyes peeled on that idea!

Hey i was wondering if you needed help logging all the chords. I noticed there are the basic chords in the current chorded app but there are numerous other chords missing. I have a pretty comprehensive book with almost every chord you can think of and just about 5 variations for each that if i had some kind of applet to create a database id be happy to log them for you.

reading tabs would be cool. What kind of format would the tabs be in?
    txt, html, guitar pro?

a guitar tutorial would be cool too. Maybe you could put picking excercises, warm ups, scales and stuff.

To reply to Zigmen: I use a long string of chords in a certain format, i’ll post up an example of it later.

To reply to joe joe: Txt will be supported first with html coming afterwards, guitar pro might be a bit more difficult, i’ll look into it.
